Morning walks to help you relax

Each morning why not plan some walks around our beautiful coast? Better after breakfast to help your digestive system and burn off the calories you just consumed. A good walk that has been tried and tested over the years is the walk from Hayle to St Ives, which is approximately 6.1 miles (9.8 km). The trek from the oldest swing bridge brings you along roads by Hayle Estuary. You can then take your detours to where you’ll reach muddy flats, a brilliant way to learn about the many different wildlife species.

Hayle was once the crucial industrial port in Cornwall, where copper mining and smelting were then distributed worldwide. The walk partly brings you onto the ancient pilgrim route, which carried pilgrims from St Michael’s Way across to Lelant to Marazion, Penzance, where the pilgrims would then travel to the Cathedral of St James, Santiago de Compostela, north-west Spain.

As the trekking ends, you’ll find the railway to St Ive’s, going through Carbis Bay and on to the wooded outskirts of the town, then arriving at the stunningly gorgeous expanse of golden sands that is Porthminster Beach.
